It all started with Olivia's 3rd attempt at digit removal surgery. Which ended up being a huge blessing in disguise. She had thrush and the Doctor decided it was not in her best interest to have the surgery done. We were pretty upset until we were distracted with a flood in our basement. It all started Saturday morning when Tom noticed water backing up from the drain in the laundry room. He bolted out the door to buy a pump at Home Depot where he had to fight through riots to get what he needed. Meanwhile I'm at home trying to stop the water from escaping the laundry room. Long story short we ended up with about a foot of water in our basement. 5 pumps ran for 6 hours to keep up with it. We have a clean up crew coming this afternoon and we are waiting on insurance to call and let us know if we are covered or not...it is likely that we are not from what we have read...I keep telling myself it could have been worse. I'll have to really remind myself when the bill comes. Atleast we are all safe. Above is a picture of our new basement! Where there are no floorboards. Among the saddest of losses was alot of pictures from the last several decades. Everything else can be replaced.

Oh no Jen that is horrible. I'm so sorry to hear that! It sounds like Chicago just keeps getting pounded with storms. So sorry.
What the heck- can't wait for the family land when we can all deal with this kind of stuff together.
