45 hours of driving, 3000+ miles, and 11 days of family time. It was a great trip! It sounds crazy to some, but we loved it. The trip was filled with great route 66, and other historical stops;
This is our first stop, the Cahokia historical mounds. Tom, Sidney and Abby raced to the top. Abby beat them both to the top, but then was so tired she nearly collapsed into the car. She must have gotten a tad bit of the competitive spirit from her parents.
This was dinner. They had unbelievable burgers, and malts and the girls claimed them to be the best tater tot makers ever! It was a historic route 66 diner once upon a time!
We also stopped to see the world's largest route 66 shield, and the museum was unfortunately closed...maybe on our next drive through the middle of nowhere.
Our next stop was Roswell, New Mexico(per Sidney's request). We were hoping there would be more to see...but the girls had fun. Except maybe Emelina who was totally afraid of all aliens.
another route 66 diner...I don't remember the uniform being so risque! I must have been focused more on what's important to me...food!
